This Tuesday I was asked by a Scout Group Delegate to the tomorrow’s AGM to give them an opinion on the proposed amendment to the Constitution.
A study of the documentation left me so concerned about this proposal that I wrote to the Board via the Company Secretary on Thursday evening. I received an email from the Chairperson of the Board yesterday (Friday) morning referring to my submission as “detailed and considered” and indicating that the Board would consider the matter and discuss it over the course of the day.
I understand that the Board must be very busy just now with Crinniú and AGM perparations and so they may not have had time to consider the matters raised just yet. I am also reasonably sure that when they do, they will agree with me and withdraw the resolution for now.
So delegates may get to hear today or tomorrow, perhaps at the AGM, that the resoluton has been withdrawn in light of input received. I know how frustrating it can be to sit at a general meeting and be told that the Board has withdrawn motions due to last minute advice. This happened at the EGM in October 2018 re. the dissolution of the Association and delegates were told that the advice could not be shared with them, this led to some very angry contributions from the floor.
Of course, the Board could decide to let the Special Resolution run to see what is said by delegates at the meeting. Either way, I believe that all delegates to the AGM deserve to hear the concerns I feel and so I am posting here. It is a shame that the imeframe is so tight at this point and that this is the only way to share my concerns, I would urge you to share with those who have a need to know.
